Janet Martin
Producer, Actor
As a writer and producer of original works, Janet co-wrote and produced many concerts and cabarets, including Three Little Maids for Soul Pepper Cabaret series, and A Broadway Valentine which was presented by the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga.
Janet began her producing career by organizing charitable events.
For several years, she produced benefit concerts for The St. Lucia Learning Project, a charity near and dear to her heart. These concerts starred veterans and newcomers alike from the Canadian theatre scene and raised thousands of dollars for the education of young people in rural St. Lucia.
During her time as a singer in Phantom of the Opera and The Sound of Music in Toronto, Janet spearheaded fundraising events to raise money for many Toronto charities. In 2 weeks, thanks to support from the Mirvish organization, over $10,000 was raised.
Prior to that, Janet organized a benefit concert for a young boy with Leukemia which again raised over $10,000 to support the family.
In addition to producing, Janet has been a professional actress and singer for over 30 years. She has been a part of many of the major mega musicals in Canada such as Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables and The Sound of Music. She has been a member of both the Shaw and Stratford Festival companies and has performed in every major theatre in Canada. Janet has toured North America with productions of The Mikado and HMS Pinafore. She was also lucky enough to work in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore for extended periods of time.
In addition to performing, Janet also teaches voice, piano and musical theatre to young children and youth.
Janet’s history with Menopause The Musical began in 2006 with the original Toronto company. She has played every role in the show, and has produced it as well.
